Slaying Giants

People will do almost anything to survive as throughout history people have endured to sustain their survival, yet at the same time, mankind has always struggled with self-destruction. It’s the ever-evolving tightrope walk of the human spirit endurance. On one side there is violence, excess, stealing, and taking advantage of the weak, a mess of terrible self-mutilated self-absorbed, consuming organisms. On the other side there is an altruistic approach some feel to help others in need, giving to the poor, reaching out to someone dying of sickness, donating blood or an organ that can save another’s life. This is who we are. Its what we are. Its been said, the struggle is what is important; the experience of the journey reaching the peak, not standing on the mountaintop. We, ourselves are the mountain. Mankind’s spirits knowingly or unknowingly take themselves to the absolute edge of survival, look off the cliff, and throw a penny reflecting a piece of themselves down just to see how long it takes to hit the ground. When they look back into their pocket to find more change to throw off, there is nothing left any longer. Our inner demons are what puts the weight of our own corpse on the soul. How will we fight these demons? If we have demons in our darkness, shouldn’t we have angels in our light? How do you go about finding this sword of righteousness to arm ourselves with? As individuals we all have that one big problem that seems to overshadow the rest. Some obstacles seem bigger than life itself, or that one addiction that you can’t seem to get a hold on no matter how hard you fight. Some problems just don’t seem to have answers. Some problems are like they were conceived from hell for us to endure. We all have our monsters. We all have our giants to slay.
