“This print is the first and only print featuring markers in my recent series titled, “Tools of Criminal Mischief” and it was created specifically for collectors here at 1xRun. I have a huge collection of vintage spray paint and markers that I have been collecting for years. The colors, the logos and the brand names have so many great things about them. Whenever people come over to my house, no matter who they are, they always want to ask me about my collections of cans, markers and other things and take pictures of them.

With “Graffiti” and “Street Art” becoming such huge buzz words, and affordable art being more accessible through sites like 1xRun, its fun to remember the tools that made a lot of it possible.” – Roger Gastman

Quam Odunsi’s The Reagents opens at Design Matters October 10, 2013

08-05 Film - The Reagents - Design Matters Gallery - Thursday October 10 2013

Quam Odunsi’s The Reagents
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 10, 7-10 pm

Design Matters is proud to present “The Reagents” by Quam Odunsi. Due to the immense success of his first show at Design Matters in April 2012,  “Anachronistic Capture: Motion & Stills”, Quam will be returning this October for his second solo show with the gallery.

Quam Odunsi is a Los Angeles based artist who depicts the city as clean, obscure and candid. His vintage photography, collage, silkscreen, painting and sculpture engender nostalgia while simultaneously remaining contemporary. The anachronistic nature of his images leads to interesting, raw photography. He has become renowned in the Los Angeles area for his images of celebrities and pop culture under the pseudonym Reserve Result.

In “The Reagents,” Quam depicts a series of works in which he takes on the character of a government surveillance official who becomes increasingly absorbed by citizens and their private lives. Quam’s 35mm, 120mm, and Polaroid film images contain surveillances of the lives of others. His artwork takes the form of many mediums; silkscreen, painting, sculpture, and film on archival paper and canvas.

The opening reception for “The Reagents” will take place Thursday, October 10 at Design Matters Gallery from 7-10. The reception is open to the public, and the exhibition will be on view through Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
